Born in Delano, California, Luis Valdez grew up in California's fertile valleys in the 1940s where he picked fruit alongside his father. Founder and artistic director for El Teatro Campesino, Valdez continues to offer stories that address the Chicano experience in America in a context that is meaningful to all Americans.
