Winterreise, Schubert's 24 song cycle based on the poems of Wilhelm Müller, lies at the heart of German cultural life. In this program, South African artist William Kentridge creates a visual journey with videos incorporating his signature animations, montages and collages to form a poetic complement to the interpretation of this masterpiece by the pianist Markus Hinterhäuser and eminent Lieder singer, baritone Matthias Goerne.
