Description
Through personal testimony by the people of Benghazi, this program traces Libya's participation in the Arab Spring uprisings, capturing the inspiring story of how unarmed citizens brought down Muammar Gaddafi's repressive regime. The film explains key incidents in the Benghazi revolt, which began when citizens protested the arrest of a lawyer who had been advocating for the 1,200 people massacred without explanation at Abu Salim prison. From the chanting demonstrators holding aloft pictures of Abu Salim's missing and dead to the Facebook activists and the establishment of a free press, the documentary puts an exuberant human face on the historic events of February 2011 and in the months afterwards in Eastern Libya.
