Description
In this program, Andrew Graham-Dixon feels the pulse of contemporary America through some of its most significant artists and art movements. In New York City, he views Jasper Johns's White Flag and Andy Warhol's soup can paintings - then talks with James Rosenquist before taking off for Los Angeles and a look at Googie architecture and the work of Ed Ruscha. Back east, he visits the home of Philip Guston and then the studio of Jeff Koons to learn how this artist continues to push the boundaries of American taste. Finally, Graham-Dixon explores the impact 9/11 has had on a new generation of artists, including Matthew Day Jackson.
