Beginning with historical footage from 1907 when the United States Army purchased its first military plane, this exciting documentary examines the miracle of flight while examining all that man has done in such a short half century. Featuring rarely seen footage, this episode of the Big Picture produced by the U.S. Army, salutes the brave men and women whose courage, tenacity, and skill have directly resulted in Army, Navy, and Air Force aviation powers second to none. Footage from the National Archives and Records Administration details the Army's Delackner Aerocycle and the Hiller Flying Platform as well as pictures of the proposed Aerial Assault Vehicle and the Aerial Jeep.
