Description
The United States is home to more than a million Chinese immigrants who make up about one percent of the unlawful immigrant population in the U.S. Nine-time Emmy Award-winning journalist Jon Alpert travels to China's Fujian province, where people pay more than,0,000 to smugglers or "snakeheads" who sneak them into the United States. Once they get here, many face long stays in INS detention, an inability to find work except in sweatshops, criminally low pay, and horrid living conditions. Refugee expert Arthur Helton and award-winning journalist Ying Chan discuss the issue.
