Description
While many Americans think of the "frontier" in terms of the Wild West, it was, at various times, located in Eastern woods, Appalachian mountains, the Great Plains, and the deserts of the Southwest. In this program, host Ron Hazelton leads a fascinating tour across the country to examine prime examples of structures built by the homesteaders who propelled America's westward expansion. Starting with post-and-beam construction in the East and continuing on to the adobe homes of the Southwest, viewers will see how archetypal American houses were built and used. Frontier Homes weaves together the beauty of the land, the construction of the houses, and the lifestyles of the pioneers.
