Description
This program is designed to enable students and teachers to put the ideas of the theater practitioner, Artaud, into practice and bridge the gap between theory books and performance. It explores the life and ideas of Artaud in a 25 minute biography that looks at how the two are meshed and merged to create the work known as "Theater of Cruelty". Shown alongside excerpts from Artaud's writing, the program illuminates the link between theory and practice. Examples of top band student work included will engage and inspire students and will provide teachers with a clear example of the standard of work to which students can aspire. Also included are over 100 clips of companies devising and performing pieces of Artaud influenced theater.
