Description
The late Pope John Paul II was one of the world's greatest proponents of religious freedom and human rights. Based on George Weigel's book of the same name, this film gives viewers an intimate portrait of the extraordinary leader. Born Karol Wojtyla, known as Lolek by his mother, the future pope faced personal tragedies throughout his youth. He held tight to his convictions through the terrifying years of WWII, joined the Polish resistance, attended an underground seminary, became the youngest bishop in Poland, and fought against communism under the Stalin regime. See how personal experiences and his years teaching philosophy at Catholic University in Lubin set the foundation for Wojtyla's papacy, and how Pope John Paul II connected with people of all faiths while in office.
