Killer Snakes (4:21);
Description
Nigeria is home to some of the world's biggest killer snakes. Without quick access to anti-venom for bites by these deadly snakes - their victims can be permanently disabled or die. The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine in the UK is working with the Nigerian Ministry of Health to develop cheaper and safer anti-venoms. It's a complicated and dangerous process, which involves separating out the most toxic parts of the venom. In this film we see how the process is being carried out, which includes the researchers handling the dangerous snakes and forcing out the venom from their fangs. And in some cases setting the snakes loose and recapturing them, while trying to avoid being bitten.
