Description
In this video seminar, psychologist Dr. Gabor Maté discusses the limitations of the medical model; considers aspects of interpersonal biology, including the biopsychosocial model, the societal epidemic of loneliness, and human needs and stressors; and looks at societal denial of human needs, talking about behavioral-focused parenting and failure to meet attachment needs. He considers the impact of environment on brain development, the impact of early childhood adaptations on adulthood, and the impact of the quality of parental interactions on psychological and brain development. He also discusses childhood trauma and trauma-informed care.
