Description
This video is a documentary portrait of Soviet poet Joseph Brodsky, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature and one of the world's most extraordinary poets and essayists. Filmed on location in the United States, Italy, and Russia, the video follows Brodsky's life through his Kafkaesque trial, his exile, and his arrival in the United States. Recordings of Brodsky reading some of his poems highlight some of the prominent themes of his work: exile and loss.
