Description
At college campuses across the country, a debate is raging: should we teach the traditional classics of western civilization, as the foundation of all our thought? Or is it cultural elitism to ignore the contributions of women, minorities, and the Third World? In this program with Bill Moyers, John Searle, professor of philosophy at the Univ. of California -- one of the foremost champions of the causes of rationality, intelligence, and the teaching of Western civilization -- argues that education should accept significant works from other cultures, but they must meet certain criteria.
