Description
This program by Reiner E. Moritz celebrates German-born French composer Jacques Offenbach's 200th Anniversary. "Offenbach began something which later developed through Johann Strauss, Lehar, Kalman, Abraham into the Broadway musical of the 20th Century. All of this can be traced back to one man: Jacques Offenbach," says Barrie Kosky, the stage director of this year's highly acclaimed Salzburg Orphée aux enfers, Offenbach's first full-length operetta. Interviews with Kosky, Dame Felicity Lott, Laurent Pelly, and many other artists, along with clips and early photographs bring to life the many facets of the composer's genius.
