Description
Digitization, e-mobility and the energy change are hardly conceivable today without this technology. From smartphones to e-cars - the lithium-ion battery is found in almost every battery-powered device. The technology is particularly established and in demand in one very specific place: the warehouse. We introduce the hidden champion of e-mobility: intralogistics. For more than a decade, lithium-ion powered trucks have been driving behind the warehouse gates of the world. The Hamburg-based company, Jungheinrich, is a pioneer and trailblazer of this technology, but pioneering work also brings challenges. Intralogistics offers a glimpse into the future of e-mobility with all its challenges and opportunities. Artificial intelligence, sustainability, resource availability, recycling and local mining; all this is already a lived reality in intralogistics today. From the extraction of lithium from thermal water to the production of the latest cells and their use in vehicles and AI-controlled large-scale storage to recycling: We show the state of the art of a technology that surrounds and influences us all every day. With industry and science, we venture a look into the future of one of the fastest-moving technologies in history.
