The 1st work performed in the 1997 rev. version for soloists (TB), men's chorus (ATTB), and 6 viols; the 2nd work for voice with instrumental ensemble (2 violas, violoncello, double bass, guitar, clarinet); the 3rd work for viola, 3 violoncellos, double bass, bass clarinet, and guitar.

The text of the 1st work consists of extracts from the Requiem mass and Bede's Latin paraphrase of Caedmon's Creation hymn, and a setting of the original Caedmon poem; the 2nd work is a setting of love poems by Etel Adnan.
