Description
Unquestionably one of the most original and influential philosophers of the twentieth century, Wittgenstein is often thought to have fathered two wholly dissimilar and disconnected philosophies. But, as the author's lucid study demonstrates, there is a continuity between Wittgenstein's early and late writings which is observable in the works of his middle years. Focusing on Wittgenstein's philosophy of language and of mind, Kenny closely examines these middle works, as no one else has yet done. He exposes apparent conflicts and then goes on to reconcile these seemingly disparate elements, providing a persuasive argument for the unity of this controversial philosopher's thought.
