Description
The first play "Equus": Psychiatrist Martin Dysart is handed the most shocking case of his career when Alan Strang is entrusted to his care. Strang has blinded six horses with a metal spike, an eerie and terrifying act. The suspects in the psychological mystery that ensues include Alan's father, a man with a secret life, and the girl who was found hysterical on the night of the crime. The revelations lead doctor and patient to a climactic session in which the truth will be found, but at a price neither dares to contemplate. -- The second play "Shrivings": Gideon, the patriarch of the piece is a Peace Loving man, a famous author, he's been knighted and is nationally regarded as a politically outspoken liberal. He lives secluded at Shrivings, a hotel like home for any curious vagabond to stay, the only need being a commitment to humanism, peacefulness and hope. With him is David Askelon a twenty-something dropout. David's father Mark was once Gideon's star pupil, also a renowned author, he's to be arriving at Shrivings, the two men honorees of some literary/national prize. Finally there is Lois, a young American who serves as Gideon's secretary and maid, a disciple like David, she's disillusioned by the American Left's deterioration and violence. --Aco at Amazon.com.
