Notes

Description
Throughout his life my father had put many of his thoughts on paper, partly for the information of others but even more to clarify thoughts in his own mind. Since in his letters he was "thinking on paper," those pieces, long or short, are far more revealing than his official documents and proclamations. What these letters lack in historical material they make up with a transcript of inner thoughts, worries, and philosophical ponderings, rare in the Eisenhower literature. The letters complement the photographs and public papers in rounding out the picture of Eisenhower the man. --,Introduction.
Description
This book contains a selection from the more than 300 letters written by Dwight D. Eisenhower to his wife, Mamie Eisenhower, during World War II. Included are Eisenhower's impressions of Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Harry S. Truman, and George Patton, and details of the planning of Operation OVERLORD and the Battle of the Bulge.
