Description
"This Glossary, designed as a practical aid to the reading of Chaucer, is intended to be serviceable with any of the widely read editions. Its primary aim is to explain the meanings of words and phrases used by Chaucer in ways unfamiliar in modern English, and to refer them to particular instances more fully than most editors have room for. Words used by him very much as they are today are not included, but many now in common use do appear because they had a different range of sense or occurred in phrases characteristic of his language. Though the Glossary in essentially a concise working tool, its careful analysis of sense will make it valuable to all Middle English scholars." -Publisher.
