Notes

Description
The author, born in 1946 in Hamburg (now living in New York), describes her childhood and youth in the shadow of a past that was rarely spoken about, and her search for knowledge and understanding of the behavior of the older generation during the Nazi period, especially in relation to the most hushed-up subject of all, the Jews. also reports interviews in later years with her parents (passive anti-Nazis) and with some of her former teachers and family friends, many of whom could not understand why she would want to pry into past guilt, and relates the attitudes of Jewish friends in America.,(From the Bibliography of the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism).
