Description
A House for My Mother features twenty-five houses designed in a 35-year period by currently practicing architects for their mothers, fathers, and other close relatives. Included are the well-known works of recognized designers, and early works from promising young architects. Extensive interviews with the architects and their parents reveal the joys and difficulties of these most personal commissions. Affordable and innovative finishes, creative small-house designs, efficient and light-filled spaces, and designs for aging and disabled parents are hallmarks of these houses. Illustrated with over 90 color and 60 black-and-white photographs and 50 line drawings, these houses reflect a variety of styles and building materials.
