Description
Zoo and Aquarium History is the first comprehensive global history of zoos and aquariums, beginning with the first animal collections in Mesopotamia, Egypt and China. Subsequent collections are reviewed through today's modern zoological gardens. Sidebars provide supplementary information on personalities, events, and wildlife conservation issues, while chapter bibliographies provide important references to regional zoo and aquarium history. A complete chronological listing of the world's zoos and aquariums is included in the appendix.
