Description
Annotation,Written by Bhalla (formerly of the Rand Corporation, the World Bank, Goldman Sachs, and the Brookings Institution) and funded by a think-tank with close connections to such right-wing institutions as the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, this report argues that common methods of measuring inequality are incorrect. Advancing a different measurement methodology, Bhalla argues that global inequality, contrary to most observers' analyses, is actually shrinking. Similarly, his methodology suggests that poor countries are experiencing much more economic growth than commonly believed. Annotation (c)2003 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com).
Description
Annotation,This comprehensive study firmly debunks several popular myths, such as the belief that globalization has resulted in lower overall growth rates for poor countries. Through rigorous, integrated methodologies and an enhanced dataset, Bhalla answers some of the most pressing policy issues confronting us today.
