Battery Opera is helmed by on and off-stage couple Lee Su-Feh and David McIntosh. Together the pair has meshed modern dance, martial arts, folk songs and opera. McIntosh draws from his punk rock background to contribute musical stylings that act as a true counterpoint to Su-Feh's lyrically quirky choreography.

Harold Rhéaume is a classic study in juggling. He is not only a renowned dancer and choreographer for Le fils d'Adrien Danse, but he has taken on the role of dance activist by championing the Quebec City dance community. His dedication and commitment have assured him a place in the hearts and minds of his contemporaries, both locally and nationally.

Yasmina Ramzy, has the distinction of being Canada's top Belly Dance choreographer. Her dance company, Arabesque, has toured extensively across Canada and internationally. She has managed to fuse the ancient dance art with contemporary esthetics, all the while re- shaping the way that the west perceives the dance form. The blue-eyed blonde carved out her star on the scene in the Middle East, but these days her home base is in Toronto.

Link is the brainchild of Gail Lotenberg--a transplanted big city artist who found herself and her voice in the wild northern frontier of the Yukon. Based in Whitehorse, Gail has translated her perceptions about man and nature into works that have won over arts lovers in one the most remote communities.

In this program, New York City Ballet balletmaster Craig Hall teaches a class in advanced ballet. Packed with fantastic exercises and insights, the class focuses on musicality, which Hall connects to ideas of physical rubato (momentarily withheld action) and the refinement of an action's quality. The combination of continuous rhythmic variety and easily visualized kinesthetic analogies gives the class a streaming poetry.

How is the perfect sequence of steps formed? In May 2013, a new and much anticipated full-length work by internationally highly esteemed choreographer Mats Ek -- Juliet & Romeo -- premiered at the Royal opera house in Stockholm. Filmmakers Andreas Söderberg and Björn Eriksson were there. This intimate documentary follows Ek's creative, artisic process and choreographic prowess, as he works with dancers on the piece.

In this program, Julie Kent, award-winning dancer and Principal Dancer at the American Ballet Theatre, teaches a class in advanced ballet. Beginning with a warm up of all the large muscle groups, she presents combinations that offer variety and texture, demonstrating and naming each, from pliés at barre to the révérence.

Anne Troake uses her home in Newfoundland as inspiration for her highly original works. Her short dance film Pretty Big Dig is classic Troake, featuring a dance company made up of steam shovels! Her keen sense of humor is evident in choreographed works that feature both dancers and non-dancers, where she explores honesty in movement.

Preston Miller has been a dance coach for ballerinas, contemporary dancers, modern dancers, hip hop dancers, broadway performers, actors/actresses, and athletes for 20 years.
