A three-week long journey - from California, through British Columbia and Alaska - delivered us to one of the loneliest and least known spots on Earth (halfway between Russia and Alaska), where the Pacific Ocean and the Bering Sea collide at what the Aleuts called 'the birthplace of the winds.

In Bermuda, David Wingate saved one of the rarest seabirds from extinction, the Bermuda Petrel, or Cahow and at the same time restored the habitat of Nonsuch Island to its pre-colonial native state in order to provide a safe haven for Cahow. This the story of how one man can save a species and how habitat can be restored.

This series is designed to help teachers of ecology and environmental studies by providing vivid examples of three different ecosystems. Each program illustrates general principles of ecology and also stresses what is special about a particular ecosystem.
