England's Poet Laureate recalls his early boyhood in the England of eighty years ago. Two poems--a prologue and an epilogue--enclose a boy's-eye-view of an old English country fair, the River Avon, the great canal from Hereford to Gloucester, a visiting circus, and other objects.
