Lawmen turned bandits, the infamous Dalton Gang served as US Deputy Marshals before turning to train robbery. They were cut down during the Coffeyville Raid in 1892, an ill-conceived attempt to rob two banks in the same day. Four gang members and four townspeople were killed.
