The characterful and colourful world of Chaucer's pilgrims is captured in extracts from the prologue to the Canterbury tales, intermingled with atmospheric music of the period: songs, dances and instrumental pieces which match the fascinating musical language of the great master poet.

On this episode of Camera Three, actress Claire Bloom reads poetry. Excerpts include selections from T.S. Eliot, Lord Byron, A.E. Housman, Sir Philip Sydney, William Carlos Williams, Ezra Pound, and medieval carols.

Erica Dawson, a professor and writer, said she was surprised while on book tour recently to be faced with the same question over and over again, about speaking for "the black experience." Black poets never went away. We don't only deserve the stage in tumultuous times. We aren't just rage, says Dawson, who shares her humble opinion on recognizing individual voices.
